My first testimony appeared in the Sentinel of December 30, 1944. Since that time I have had other proofs of God's care and should like to relate one of the healings.

I was employed as supervisor of the shipping office in a large corporation where there was a great deal of pressure, a necessity to work long hours, and much strife among the workers. Then I became very ill with ulcers of the stomach, and soon I had a nervous breakdown. I asked for the help of a Christian Science practitioner and spent a great deal of time studying. My wife stood loyally by me during this experience.

I came to the point where I felt that the only way out of the situation was to retire on a pension, for which I was eligible, although it would be a very small one. My wife counseled against this, and I became so discouraged that I almost wanted to destroy myself; but having studied Christian Science for so long, I knew there was a right way out. I knew that I could not die out of my troubles, but must live and proclaim the power of God. Through realizing that God is my strength and through the loving help of a practitioner, I was able to retain my position.
