With all humility I wish to express...

With all humility I wish to express my gratitude for having been a student of Christian Science for many years. My first healing was that of a severe mental condition and took place over thirty-five years ago. I was in an institution at the time. I had absent treatment from a Christian Science practitioner retained on my behalf by my wife. The treatment aroused me mentally to turn aside from the medical treatment to which I had been submitting.

Soon I began helping the staff of the institution to help others. This continued for some time until I was able to leave the institution as my own master.

In the ensuing thirty-one years, I have had many healings. These have proved to me that when one relies on Truth and Love, he expresses Life and is able to rejoice in the happiness which our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, describes in her Message to The Mother Church for 1902. There she says (p. 17), "Happiness consists in being and in doing good; only what God gives, and what we give ourselves and others through His tenure, confers happiness: conscious worth satisfies the hungry heart, and nothing else can."

I am happy in the growing understanding of what God is. I find that after each experience of healing, this understanding has increased.

Recently I was able to prove this at the passing on of my wife. I was also wonderfully helped by a better understanding of "A Rule for Motives and Acts," given in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy (Art. VIII, Sect. 1). It taught me much of the real meaning of Love, and I learned that we gain an understanding of Love through spiritual sense.

Membership and work in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and class instruction have been an inspiration, and the association meetings are an annual source of joy. Our daily newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, provides me with constructive views and has recently been the medium through which loving help and companionship in the home have been provided.

I should also like to say how grateful I am for the untiring work of The Christian Science Board of Directors and for all those who work in the movement so that we in the Field may have every help and encouragement in our efforts to lead the life that our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, intended us to lead.

I cannot close this testimony without expressing my deep gratitude for our Leader, whose revelation of Truth is in fulfillment of this promise recorded by John in the Apocalypse (Rev. 12:10): "Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ." —Harold F. Wade, Darlington, Durham, England.
