Throughout many years the truths of Christian Science have been proven in our family. While our daughter was attending college she was taken ill with what the school physician diagnosed as a ruptured appendix. He said that an immediate operation was imperative. However, we relied solely on Christian Science treatment, and she was healed in three days. There was no period of convalescence. The twenty-third Psalm proved indeed a refuge at that time.

On a recent trip to the West Indies it was necessary for my husband and me to comply with the compulsory vaccination law. We did so, knowing that the only real law there is, is God's law of immutable good and that in reality we could only be obedient to His law. My husband felt no ill effects from the inoculation, but within a few days my arm became badly swollen and infected.

As the pain grew more severe, I became full of self-condemnation and self-pity, and I exclaimed to my husband, "Oh, why do I always have to work out everything the hard way?"
