"DON'T SPIN YOUR WHEELS"

The newcomer to snow-packed, icy roads can always profit by this sage advice of New Englanders: "Don't spin your wheels." Even snow tires spin helplessly if too much gasoline is hastily applied to the engine. But if the car is started slowly and evenly, the tires will grip the surface more readily and usually will draw the relieved driver out of what had seemed an impossible situation.

This is a lesson of far-reaching application. There is no phase of human experience in which a steady, cool, collected approach is not better than nervous haste. Christian Scientists love to ponder the gentle, serene confidence of our great Master, Christ Jesus. He did not withdraw from or rush to a problem. His raising of Lazarus is an outstanding example of this.

After receiving word of Lazarus' illness, Jesus tarried where he was for two days; and upon reaching the cave in which Lazarus lay, Jesus paused to lift up his eyes and thank the Father before he raised his friend from the tomb.
