THE WAY TO ATTAIN TRUE PEACE

With a longing for peace of mind, many people have thought of Christ Jesus" words (John 14:27), "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you," and have turned to the Bible for comfort. The reason more of them have not realized the fulfillment of the promise is that they have not fully understood the qualifying clause which follows, "not as the world giveth, give I unto you."

Christian Science is teaching men the utter unreality of a worldly sense and the reality of the allness and availability of God, the one divine Mind. This Science provides definite rules and laws for aligning thought with that Mind. Mortals cannot immediately demonstrate absolute spiritual being, but they can apply their present degree of spiritual knowledge to any phase of human experience and attain the peace which is entirely separate from the world of matter.

The creation of divine Mind is the spiritual universe described in the first chapter of Genesis, in which "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Man is the complete expression of this Mind, the image and likeness of God, safe and secure in divine Love. In God's creation there is no room or cause for conflict since each individuality possesses through reflection all good and is in harmonious adjustment with the whole. To understand this absolute spiritual fact is to have abiding peace.
