When I was a very young girl, my mother had a nervous breakdown. After years of medical treatment, she was told of Christian Science by a member of the family who had been healed of an abdominal rupture. She began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and was completely healed just through the reading of this textbook.

It was after my mother's healing that she learned that there was a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, in the city where we were living. I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School and attended until I reached the age of twenty. Several years after I was married I had the opportunity of testing the healing power of this Science.

A severe pain began to develop across the abdomen, and Christian Science treatment was requested. As there seemed to be no relief, my husband and I decided to leave our home in the Middle West and go for the winter to Florida, where I could spend more time in consecrated study of the Bible and of Mrs. Eddy's writings. I also asked for the help of a Christian Science practitioner, but the treatments were to be given only when the pain was so severe I could not think clearly enough to do the work myself.

After several months, I felt the problem was too large for God. The practitioner quelled the fear, explaining that there was nothing too big for God, since He is All-in-all. Then he quoted this passage from Science and Health (p. 410): "The Apostle John says: 'There is no fear in Love, but perfect Love casteth out fear. ... He that feareth is not made perfect in Love.' Here is a definite and inspired proclamation of Christian Science."

I took Science and Health to bed with me and read late into the night. Another passage on the same page impressed me, and I held to it. It reads: "Every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger. The more difficult seems the material condition to be overcome by Spirit, the stronger should be our faith and the purer our love." Two days later I lost a large tumor. This healing took place over twenty-six years ago, and there has never been the slightest recurrence of this condition.

My heart overflows with gratitude to God, to our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the unspeakable gift, Christian Science.
