Though I had been reared in a Christian home, it wasn't until I began the earnest study of Christian Science that I learned how far-reaching prayer really is. As a child I had been enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School; but I remained only for a short time, because a relative objected to its teachings. However, the seed had been sown. When I reached the age at which I was permitted to make my own decisions, I chose Christian Science as my religion; and for more than thirty-six years, I have relied on it for healing.

In Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy makes this statement (p. 369): "The prophylactic and therapeutic (that is, the preventive and curative) arts belong emphatically to Christian Science, as would be readily seen, if psychology, or the Science of Spirit, God, was understood." This important fact was proven to me many times when our children were small. Though symptoms of so-called children's diseases appeared, these evidences always quickly vanished and the children were never ill for any length of time.

Recently I had an oustanding experience. For many years I had a small swelling or growth on my body. Suddenly it began to get larger and became very painful. The condition prevented me from carrying out the simplest household duties, and I spent most of my time in bed.
