YOUTH AND THE WORLD'S NEED

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

The world's lack of good seems great, and the problem of supplying the needed relief seems to be a complex one. Yet the Bible makes clear that the salvation from individual and world problems is to be found in the spiritual understanding of God. In Isaiah we read (45:22), "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else."

In order to look to God for salvation, we need to understand what God is. Christian Science throws light on the Scriptural declarations of God's nature and explains that since He is ever-present Spirit, no evil or matter is present anywhere, at any time. Since God is Love, tenderly providing for His entire spiritual creation, no need actually exists in the universe of Spirit. The real man, as the image of the all-powerful and loving creator, is eternally reflecting all good without limit.

Let us see how the knowledge and application of such scientifically spiritual facts can help to relieve widespread want and woe. Speaking of real existence, Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 492): "Being is holiness, harmony, immortality. It is already proved that a knowledge of this, even in small degree, will uplift the physical and moral standard of mortals, will increase longevity, will purify and elevate character." Then she continues, "Thus progress will finally destroy all error, and bring immortality to light."
