"THINK ON THESE THINGS"

The importance of guarding one's thinking is emphasized in the teachings of Christian Science, which explain clearly that our daily human experience is but the result of the thoughts we accept as our own. It is a truism that each word or deed is the direct result of the thinking of the individual. Easily comprehended also is the fact that the face becomes hard as an outward expression of anger, but kindly, loving thoughts are mirrored in a gentle expression on the countenance.

As we gain a better understanding of the one perfect God and of man created in His likeness, we see that, in truth, man expresses his Maker in pure and Godlike thinking. Whence, then, do wrong thoughts come, thoughts that would try to confuse or degrade mankind?

When Christ Jesus refused to accept as his own thoughts the suggestions of the devil or evil, he referred to wrong thinking as "Satan." And to all wrong thinking our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has given the name "mortal mind," thereby distinguishing it from the one divine Mind, God.
