Prepare Them a Place

[From a former superintendent of a branch church Sunday School]

Every member of a branch church or society is rightly interested in and concerned with the progress of its Sunday School. While growth depends mainly upon the spiritual development of those immediately responsible for its activities, every church member has an important part in it and knowing that an atmosphere of love is essential should be working earnestly to fulfill this by means of understanding prayer.

In establishing the Sunday School for children up to the age of twenty, our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, provided an important means for individual growth as well as for the growth of her Church. She recognized the children's need of understanding her great discovery of scientific Christianity and consequently made adequate provision for right teaching in Article XX of the Manual of The Mother Church. It is essential, therefore, that each branch establish a Sunday School for the children who reside in the community.

When the writer began her term of office as superintendent, she recognized immediately the need of vigorously denying any suggestion of retrogression or limitation. She realized that the enrollment was not to be confined to the children of church members, but that a Christian Science Sunday School has much to offer to all boys and girls who are ready to accept the message of the Christ.
