Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Covina, California (First Church).

Dedication services for First Church of Christ, Scientist, Covina, California, will be held on Sunday in the church edifice at 173 West Center Street. There will be two services, one at 11 a.m. and the other at 3 p.m. Members, friends, and visitors are cordially invited to attend.

In the year 1908 a small group of students of Christian Science began to meet on Sundays in the home of one of the students for the reading of the Lesson-Sermons [outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly ]. After about eight months the meetings were disbanded and again renewed in 1911. Later, meetings were held in the Covina Woman's Club. In 1912 [the group] organized, and [on October 14 it was recognized by The Mother Church as Christian Science Society, Covina, California].
