"Thanks be unto God for his...

"Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift" (II Cor. 9:15). So spoke the Apostle Paul.

I have many reasons for expressing my thanks for Christian Science. I first heard of this great truth in 1916, and since then I have had no other help or physician in bringing up a family of six children.

While the children were still small, my husband passed on. This experience was a great grief to me. and I felt I could never face the experience of bringing up my family singlehanded and on a rather limited income.

A few days after the passing on of my husband, something seemed to happen to my arm. From that time on, and until it was healed in Christian Science, my right hand was so shaky that it was difficult for me to write, especially in public. I also found it difficult to raise a cup of liquid to my mouth without spilling much of the contents.

About this same time the executive board of the branch Church of Christ, Scientist, of which I was a member, invited me to become clerk. Because of my shaky hand, I felt this to be an impossibility; so I declined the appointment. The chairman of the board, who was also a Christian Science practitioner, called on me and asked me to reconsider my decision, and I told him I was willing to do so. I asked him if he would give me treatment in Christian Science. He agreed, and I left home on a two weeks' holiday.

A few days later the practitioner wrote to me and asked me a very searching question. Was I believing that I had lost my support and much of my supply? I pondered this question and suddenly realized that this was so. I saw that I was forgetting that my Father-Mother God supplies all of our needs. Quickly I recalled the words of the Psalmist, who assures us of God's care thus (Ps. 103:3): "Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases." With this I was completely healed. I accepted the position of clerk and served in this capacity for three consecutive years.

I was much blessed by this demonstration. It brought many years of happy church work. I gained the needed confidence to look after my family, to meet problems of supply and the physical problems of the children. Words cannot express my great gratitude.—(Mrs.) Muriel G.
