For fifteen years I suffered from arthritis. Walking was difficult, and I was in constant pain. Many physicians and chiropractors had tried to help me, but I was told that I would eventually be confined to a wheel chair. One day a neighbor telephoned and said that he had read that a woman had been healed of arthritis through Christian Science. I thanked him and then forgot all about his call.

A year later found me much worse, and I decided then and there to do something about it. I telephoned an acquaintance whom I knew to be a student of Christian Science and expressed my desire to obtain help. She most lovingly told me of the practitioners who are listed in The Christian Science Journal. One was chosen, and prayerful work was started at once.

The practitioner asked me to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I obtained this textbook and began at once to read it. It seemed so wonderful to me that I could hardly put it down. That night I slept well for the first time in two weeks. The next morning I got out of bed and walked across the room before I remembered the events of the day before. I shouted for joy when I realized that I had walked with freedom and without pain.

The people who saw me that day could not believe that such a change was possible. Christian Science was given full credit. When the difficulty presented itself again, it was overcome, and my progress continued until I was entirely free. The healing has been permanent. I am grateful to the consecrated practitioner whose work was so effective.

Many wonderful changes began to take place in my thinking, and further healings followed. As a registered nurse, I had relied on medicine for everything, but after my very first treatment in Christian Science, I was never again tempted to use medicine in any form.

I bought all the writings of Mrs. Eddy at a Christian Science Reading Room and began to study in earnest. In addition, I attended the Wednesday testimony meetings, the Sunday services, and the lectures. All of these activities helped me to understand this wonderful religion. Our son was enrolled in Sunday School, and my husband became an earnest student of Christian Science.

Other healings have been those of a concussion of the brain, food poisoning, hay fever, night blindness, burns, and colds. Protection in accidents has been experienced, lack has been overcome, and the comfort of the Christ was felt when my husband passed on.

My son suffered from what appeared to be a serious ear infection. A practitioner was asked to help, since our own prayerful work did not bring the healing. In less than two weeks the ear opened and drained, and the boy was completely healed.

I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for the priceless experience of class instruction, and for the inspiring privilege of the yearly association meetings. My thanks go out to God for giving us Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and Mrs. Eddy, our Leader. Practitioners, loving friends, and all the consecrated workers in our movement have my gratitude.
