"TEACH US TO PRAY"

It is recorded in the eleventh chapter of Luke's Gospel that on a certain occasion one of the disciples said to Christ Jesus (verse 1), "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples." Thereupon the Master complied and gave to the world what has since been known as the Lord's Prayer.

To Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, there was much more in the Lord's Prayer than the literal meaning of the words might convey to most people. She was divinely inspired to give to the world the spiritual sense of the Lord's Prayer, with which she closes the chapter on Prayer in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." This spiritual interpretation has brought healing and comfort to thousands of people.

We all need to learn to pray aright. What devoted student of Christian Science has not said in his heart, "Lord, teach me to pray"? This Science makes it clear that if we would pray to God aright, we must learn who God is. We must learn that God is not a variable person whom our prayers can change, but divine, invariable Principle, the only cause.
