TRUE BLISS

[Written Especially for Young People]

To be supremely and lastingly happy is the desire of young and old. Men strive for the fulfillment of this bliss in many ways—through personal relationships, material possessions, worldly accomplishments. Yet no one finds in these the sure realization of happiness. There is a way, though, to satisfy the yearning heart most abundantly. Christian Science, the promised Comforter, reveals it.

Mary Baker Eddy indicates on page 262 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" that mortals achieve good when the pains and pleasures of matter cease to have mastery over them. She says, "They will then drop the false estimate of life and happiness, of joy and sorrow, and attain the bliss of loving unselfishly, working patiently, and conquering all that is unlike God." Think of it—the recipe for eternal bliss given to us that we may attain it here and now!

One very gratifying proof which I have had of the efficacy of Christian Science in helping us to attain happiness occurred years ago and continues to unfold with blessings. As a child, I was quite timid and shy. Through the truths I learned in the Christian Science Sunday School, these false traits yielded to a great degree; but as a teen-ager I suffered, as young people often do, because I was not popular at school. I thought that this was because I was not beautiful and did not have glamorous clothes.
