In 1932 we were going through an unhappy and discouraging time. My husband had been suffering from neuritis for a long time, and I was threatened with loss of sight due to an accident. One day my husband told me he had met a friend on the street who had told him that he did not need to go on suffering, that he could be healed through Christian Science as she had been.

The next Sunday morning we attended a service in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. There we met a Christian Science practitioner, who cheerfully accepted my husband's case. That week we also attended our first Wednesday evening testimony meeting. I will never forget it. I felt the presence of the healing Christ. These words of Christ Jesus had a new meaning for me (John 14:12): "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."

I went home that night and removed my black goggles. The next day I went back to the eye specialist to show him that I had been healed. Although he acknowledged the healing, he could scarcely believe it.
