MIRACLES OF GRACE

In every so-called miracle, we note the presence of a common factor, a God-derived quality in action. What is this common factor? It is faith in God's grace. Christ Jesus, the greatest practical exponent of the art of spiritual healing, required such faith of those he healed.

The Master deplored the absence of this common factor when the disciples had failed to heal the epileptic boy. He exclaimed (Matt. 17:17), "O faithless and perverse generation." Later he said to his disciples, "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."

On another occasion when the sea became boisterous and there was a great storm, the disciples became fearful. After stilling the tempest, Jesus asked (Mark 4:40), "How is it that ye have no faith?"
