That Christian Science really does heal and is effective in meeting every need has been proved to me beyond doubt in many instances.

Before hearing of Christian Science, I had suffered from pulmonary tuberculosis for ten years and had had two long periods of treatment in sanatoriums. Signs of another serious breakdown were upon me in spite of many years of careful observance of diet, rest, clinical treatment, and all the other material remedies prescribed by expert and kindly medical practitioners.

My mother had witnessed a remarkable cure through Christian Science treatment many years before, but knew little about this religion. On her return to England, after a long period abroad, she had begun attending a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. Thus, when my health became critical again, she asked that I allow a Christian Science practitioner to visit me. I was ignorant and skeptical of Christian Science at that time and had formed unfavorable prejudices against the religion; so it was with little hope and with a feeling of condescension that I yielded to my mother's persuasions.
