NATURE: THE REFLECTION OF SPIRIT

The real universe, including man, is the reflection of Spirit. All that is true regarding the universe and man is spiritual. Nature does not really exist in matter, as the material senses would have us believe, but in Spirit; nor does it consist of material objects, but of spiritual ideas.

The destructive beliefs so commonly associated with nature are not God's means of maintaining or adjusting the universe. The material so-called creation is the effect of the carnal mind; but since everything real exists in Spirit as idea and not as matter, it follows that as we understand Spirit, we must also become aware of its ideas. When the real universe is understood, nature will no longer be destructive and consumable, but perfect, spiritual, and immortal.

Christ Jesus loved nature. Many of his illustrations were taken from the field and the fold, the birds and the flowers, the seed and the soil. We cannot believe his concept of nature was a destructive one. He severely condemned the carnal mind, or evil, as a murderer, for he said of the devil (John 8:44), "He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him."
