FREEDOM FROM CAPTIVITY
Recalling God's wonderful deliverance of the children of Israel, Moses said (Deut. 6:21), "We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand." The mighty hand of the Lord, which freed Pharaoh's bondmen, is an ever-present force, omnipotent, active right now.
In order to break any false sense of captivity or inharmony, we have to understand what true freedom is and how it is gained. Jesus' words (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," clearly indicate the means of seeking freedom.
In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy points out the basic captivity from which we all need to be freed. She writes (p. 225), "Men and women of all climes and races are still in bondage to material sense, ignorant how to obtain their freedom."
