HOW CHRISTIAN SCIENCE HEALS May 3, 1958 Issue

RADIO PROGRAM No. 241 - Awake to Your God-given Freedom

Speaker: When a child wakes up from a bad dream, how comforted he is when he finds he's really safe at home in the loving care of his parents. Sometimes our human experiences seem rather terrifying and hopeless, don't they? Let John Todd, of Vancouver, Washington, tell you how he awakened from such an experience.

Mr. Todd: As a result of the bank moratorium in the early thirties, my financial house of cards came tumbling down. I had a real estate and loan business. I lost it all. After that, nothing I started seemed to go. Finally, under the pressure of this business failure and my disappointment in seeing the plans for my family go for nought, I became very ill. And the tendency I had of running myself down wasn't helping any either. There didn't seem to be anything that the doctors could do for me.

I'd been flat on my back in bed for over a month when a friend came to see me. He suggested. that I try Christian Science. My first reaction was negative. But he was kind about it, and I agreed to go with him to see a Christian Science practitioner the next day. I never did a more painful thing in my life than to get out of bed and into my clothes. My friend had to help me downstairs and into his car.
