God is our help in every need
God is our help in every need. This was proved to me through the help of a consecrated Christian Science practitioner. My daughter ran a rusty nail into her foot, and within a few days blood poisoning was so bad that she became unconscious.
Our family physician said that the foot would have to be amputated in order to save my daughter's life, and he made arrangements with the hospital for an operation. After the physician left, I sat down in a chair near the window of my living room, wondering why God had not answered my prayers. Just then I saw a salesman going from door to door. When he came to my door I told him that I just could not be interested in anything.
The salesman sensed my grief and asked if he could help me. When I related the plight of my daughter, he asked me if I had heard of Christian Science and its healing method, which, he said, could heal my daughter. I had to admit to him that I did not know anything about this Science. However, I did notice a great release from the fear and grief I had felt. I told the man that I had prayed as well as I knew how to pray.
At my request he called a Christian Science practitioner, who came to my house. She told me that God is Love and the only Life. I decided to leave all to God's care and asked her to give my daughter treatment. Then I called the physician and told him what I had decided to do. He was very kind and understanding.
Within three days my daughter was completely healed and went out to play. For this proof of God's love and for the realization that He answered my prayer when Christian Science was introduced to me in this hour of great need, I shall never cease thanking Him. I am also grateful to the kind salesman who took time to explain this religion to me, and to the practitioner who so faithfully stood by.
My gratitude goes out to God for Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and for Mrs. Eddy, who so lovingly gave us Christian Science. Membership in The Mother Church and activity in a branch church are among my greatest blessings.—(Mrs.) Anne Parsons, Cupertino, California.
