I was introduced to Christian Science through reading several of the periodicals, copies of which had been left in my home by a friend. As I read, I was greatly impressed by the testimonies of healing, especially the ones concerning the overcoming of the smoking habit.

I had tried to conquer this habit at various times, but to no avail. When I read the periodicals, however, I was convinced that if I had the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which was so often mentioned, I too would be healed.

My sister made a gift of this book to me. It has proved to be the most valuable gift I have ever received. When I began reading the textbook, I found it impossible to lay it aside until I had read it from cover to cover. Its teachings were certainly the truth I had been unknowingly seeking and had finally found. I ceased smoking at that time, and this healing, which occurred about eight years ago, has been permanent.
