THE TRUE BASIS
Christian Science reaches the new student right where he is and lifts him up. It says to him: "Awake! Rouse yourself!" From the moment he starts studying the works of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of this precious Science, or from his first reading of the Christian Science periodicals, the beginner will find himself thinking more constructively.
As he learns of the perfection of God and the real man, he becomes more loving. His family finds him an easier person to live with. His fellow workers realize that a change has taken place within him. Not only will his associates be pleased with the improvement in their fellow worker, but he will be better pleased with himself. He will not only find himself more alert, but will discover within himself a tendency to look at things and persons in a more scientific way. Daily seeing himself more clearly as the real man, he will naturally be more conscious of the real selfhood of others.
The new student of Christian Science will discover that because he is beginning to grasp man's perfection as God's idea, he is thinking less about disease and calamities. The contemplation of evil conditions and circumstances will fade from his thought. Instead, he will find himself devoting much of his time to watching his own motives and aims to see if they are expressing divine Principle, God.
