THE ANGELS OF TRUTH AND LOVE

"When angels visit us," Mary Baker Eddy tells us in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 306), "we do not hear the rustle of wings, nor feel the feathery touch of the breast of a dove; but we know their presence by the love they create in our hearts. Oh, may you feel this touch, —it is not the clasping of hands, nor a loved person present; it is more than this: it is a spiritual idea that lights your path!"

Through the ages the spiritual ideas of Truth and Love have brought strength and comfort to all who have turned wholeheartedly to God for enlightenment and guidance. Both the Old and the New Testament speak symbolically of angel messengers. These spiritual ideas or intuitions have their origin in God, infinite, divine intelligence, Truth, and Love. Thus they are as eternally available as God.

Mrs. Eddy explains in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. 566, 567) that different angel messages may serve distinct and separate purposes in meeting individual requirements. Sometimes we call on angels for strength to withstand temptation and to give necessary rebuke to evil, just as Jesus did. Again we may turn to them as he did for the inspiration of the ever-tender compassion that heals the sick and the sinning through the power of Spirit.
