I turned to Christian Science for physical healing and was healed by reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, although I had been told by several leading physicians that there was no hope of health for me.

As a small child I was always sick. By the time I was twenty-five years old, I had undergone four major operations and was a semi-invalid. In addition to being paralyzed on one side, I was suffering from a kidney ailment, constipation, and nervous attacks that left me helpless for days at a time. I had become desperate and prayed that I might die rather than be a burden to others.

A member of my family who had met a man whose wife was a student of Christian Science insisted that I try this Science. I did not have any knowledge of it, but I attended church with the Christian Scientist that Sunday, and the following Wednesday evening I went with her to a testimony meeting. After the meeting I borrowed the textbook.
