About forty years ago I was invited...
About forty years ago I was invited to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting at a Church of Christ, Scientist, with two of my aunts, who had recently become interested in Christian Science. My mother urged me to go with them because I was very unhappy and extremely nervous, having abnormal fears. I also had indigestion, headaches, insomnia, and other ailments unusual in a young girl.
I was so impressed with the testimonies I heard at the meeting that I borrowed the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and read it for six weeks. Then I got my own copy.
Its teachings helped me immediately. I laid off glasses and arch supports, and I threw away all my medicines, of which there were many. Although I had been underweight, in one year I gained seventeen pounds and looked like a different person.
