HOW CHRISTIAN SCIENCE HEALS: April 19, 1958 Issue

RADIO PROGRAM No. 239 - The Law Is on Your Side

Speaker: In any sort of difficulty or trouble, it's a great comfort to know that the law is on your side. And when the trouble is disease or inharmony of any sort, it's reassuring to find that there is only one real law, the governing law of God. Our guest today has seen this to be true throughout a distinguished career in Britain's Royal Navy. Now we'd like you to hear the experience of Admiral Sir Cecil Harcourt, of London, England.

Admiral Harcourt: When I turned to Christian Science, I was a cripple—on crutches—due to a tubercular disease of the ankle. I had been a cripple for over three years, having constant medical attention, including six months in hospital. At the end of that time I was invalided out of the Royal Navy. They put me on the Retired List because they considered I would never again be medically fit for duty.

Christian Science had been presented to me when I first went sick, but I would have nothing to do with any religion. It was not until about three years later that it was presented to me again, and again I would have nothing to do with it. Shortly afterwards, I saw that quite normal people believed in Christian Science and were healed by it. I was very much in need of healing; so I had a look at it. But again I got a false impression of it and again would have nothing to do with it. I didn't think it fair to take the healing if I wasn't willing to accept the teachings and put them into practice.
