It is with sincere gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me that I submit this testimony. I did not seek Science for physical healing, although most of my life had been spent under a doctor's care and I had been told that I had an incurable disease.

During the summer of 1949, I found myself in a state of thought bordering on despair. I had had many disappointments and unhappy experiences, and these, together with ill-health, forced me to take a leave of absence from my work. I refused further help from physicians and devoted my entire time to prayer, for I was convinced that if God could not help me, there was no help available.

I talked with a local minister and received kind and loving encouragement, but no lasting relief. In spite of this, I had an instinctive conviction of God's power to lift me out of my difficulty. After weeks of almost continuous prayer, the following words from the Bible came to my waiting thought (Luke 8:48), "Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole."
