STEVIE STANDS STILL AND LISTENS

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Stevie could hardly wait each morning for his mother to tie the shoestrings of his brown shoes, because then he could go out. He loved to go all around the neighborhood and visit. He loved everybody, and everybody loved him. There was only one trouble. Stevie never wanted to stay in his nice back yard and usually forgot to ask Mother if he could go away from home.

Sometimes when Mother was ready to go marketing and wanted to take Stevie with her, she would first have to find him. Mother had a lot of work to do, and she felt it wasn't right that she should have to spend so much time hunting for Stevie because he disobeyed her.

Stevie went to the Christian Science Sunday School. Each morning before he went out to play, Mother read to him some of the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly. One morning Mother read part of the definition of "angels" from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 581), "God's thoughts passing to man."
