OVERCOMING THE LIMITATIONS OF TIME

In this modern age the element of time plays an important role in the activities of mankind. Many people rise and retire, dine and carry on their business according to the clock; in many localities the date and time of birth and death are recorded according to law.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, gives the definition of "time' in the Glossary of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Part of this definition reads as follows (p. 595): "Mortal measurements; limits, in which are summed up all human acts, thoughts, beliefs, opinions, knowledge; matter; error."

The complaint of many active people that there is not enough time to do everything that is required of them indicates the limiting nature of the mortal measurement of human activity. What can be done by mankind to overcome the limiting sense imposed by the mortal measurements of our daily living, which seems to be controlled largely by the ticking of a clock?
