"REJOICE WITH THEM THAT DO REJOICE"

The Apostle Paul's counsel to the Romans (12:15), "Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep," has furnished the writer with much food for thought. She is reminded of what an important factor gratitude is in the lives of Christian Scientists, gratitude not only for the blessings which come to them as individuals, but for the blessings which come to their fellow men.

It is not hard for one to be grateful for his own material good fortune, but sometimes the carnal mind would tempt him to believe that it is not always as easy to rejoice over someone else's good fortune. It often seems easier to obey the latter part of the counsel quoted above than the first part, but this is only because of the carnal mind's false claim that it governs mankind's thinking.

We learn through our study of Christian Science that the real man the perfect reflection of the one Mind, God, is not subject to envy, ingratitude, hatred, or negative thinking in any form. It is necessary for us to start detecting and rejecting these parasitic lies whenever they claim to be a part of our thinking.
