Mary Baker Eddy states in "Miscellaneous Writings"...

Mary Baker Eddy states in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 151), "God is our Father and our Mother, our Minister and the great Physician: He is man's only real relative on earth and in heaven." I had the joyous privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School, learning at a very early age to turn to God in every way and to apply the above statement daily.

After marrying and having children, I began to be troubled with anemia, weakness, and a tendency to fainting spells. Although it was contrary to what I had learned in Christian Science, I began taking vitamins and eating certain supposedly health-giving foods, but I grew steadily worse. It came to me that perhaps I needed glasses. However, the optometrist could find nothing wrong with my eyes and advised that I see a physician.

As I left the optometrist's office, I turned again to the truths I had learned in the Christian Science Sunday School. I drew very close to God in the weeks that followed. I studied the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings, and with the aid of the Concordances, I looked up and pondered the spiritual significance of such words as "eyes," "light," "morning," "strength," and "health." Very soon I was completely healed. The children were enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School, and I again became active as a member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist.
