I desire to express gratitude for the healing of a varicose ulcer. For many years I had tried remedies recommended by doctors or friends, but the healing did not take place until I turned to God and learned more of His nature through Christian Science.

The healing began when I saw my need to be healed of resentment. I was able to overcome this false trait by a higher and more selfless expression of love. I studied "Science and Health with Key to the "Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy earnestly and realized that every word of it was true. With this study came a deep sense of gratitude to Mrs. Eddy. As the resentment was healed, the healing of the ulcer took place naturally and has been permanent.

One Sunday morning recently when I was waiting for a bus to take me to a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, I caught my foot on an obstruction on the footpath and fell onto the roadway. Later that evening, the foot was very swollen and stiff and during the night was so painful that I could not bear a sheet on it. In view of the hour, I decided not to call a practitioner as I normally would have done. However, I was reminded of the great humility expressed by Christian Science practitioners; and then and there I decided that I too would express more humility, and I read some of Mrs. Eddy's references to it.
