LETTERS TO THE PRESS FROM CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION

The Christian World

The Christian World London, England

Thank you for heading [a contributor's] letter, "Is Christian Science Christian?" It is quite a relief to find someone with the humility to put these words in question form.

Let me reassure [your contributor] that no monstrous doctrine lies behind the Christian Scientists' attitude to diseases, children's or other. As to children, in obedience to the Children and Young Persons' Act, 1933, a Christian Science parent calls in a doctor under the same circumstances in which a parent not a Christian Scientist would deem it necessary to do so. But had [your contributor] been a privileged witness of apostolic healing, would he have rebuked the failure of our Lord and his apostles to turn to the physicians as well as to God?
