From the time she was a young girl, my mother was a semi-invalid suffering from pernicious anemia and a valvular heart condition. It was predicted that she could not live beyond the age of forty-five. She had witnessed an instantaneous healing of a friend through Christian Science, and she determined now to turn to this Science for help.

My mother had her complete healing and spent many years in the public practice of Christian Science. Our home was blessed by many proofs of the care, guidance, and protection of the Christ, Truth. As children, we were taught to turn to God for help in every problem. My mother's reminder, "All is well," encouraged me through many experiences and is still a joyous declaration in my thought.

One morning, several years ago, I awoke with one side of my face immobile and drawn. This was startling to me, and fear had to be met; but I clung to the many simple truths I had been taught in Christian Science. My husband helped me to turn my thought away from the material evidence to the spiritual facts of being.
