The following testimony is offered as an expression of my gratitude for Christian Science and for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. In my early years as a student of Christian Science, I was spending a vacation at a cottage with one of our daughters. One day she manifested cold and fever. Previous to my study of Christian Science, a child of ours had passed on with this difficulty; so my fear was great.

I had no telephone; so I could not reach a Christian Science practitioner or my family. I felt very much alone, and my fear increased. Throughout the afternoon and evening, I read the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and endeavored to apply the truth. One citation from the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly stood out (Ps. 51:10—12): "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit."

I clung to this prayer, and at about midnight I found the child bathed in perspiration, and by morning she was eompletely free. I was truly grateful.

I had another experience with a younger daughter. I was doing the laundry one morning and had just about finished, when she came to me. In trying to get my attention, she put her hand too close to the wringer and was caught in it. As quickly as possible I stopped the wringer, released her hand, and covered it, declaring aloud, "She is God's perfect child and nothing—nothing can interfere with that fact." I quieted the child's fears and comforted her, and when a little later we looked at the hand, it was normal.

I have witnessed protection from falls, healings of colds and headaches, and the return of normal bowel action after eight days of inaction. The understanding of Truth which I have gained was my support at the passing on of a loved one.
