ABSOLUTE FAITH HEALS

[Original in German]

When anyone has been led to Christian Science through his own healing or that experienced by a member of his family, he naturally wants to know how Christian Science heals and what constitutes healing prayer. In seeking an answer to these questions, the inquirer will be helped by a study of the chapter entitled "Prayer" in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Here Mrs. Eddy states (p. 1), "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love."

One individual on first learning of Christian Science found it difficult to grasp the new concept of faith this Science teaches. He had previously formed his own interpretation, and to him faith was just the acceptance of something as true without understanding or proof.

However, when a member of his family was healed through Christian Science of an illness which is generally considered incurable, he was not satisfied with this conception of faith. He realized that the demonstration of healing faith which he had witnessed must have had its source in something higher than the mere acceptance of the truth.
