TRUTH
John 8:32
Seek
ye the truth? Then seek it not in creed,
In outworn dogma, nor in solemn rite—
These are mere forms: substance alone sheds light
Upon the great realities. Take heed,
Since not by word alone but by each deed
Our lives are tested. All our works disclose
That naught but good can come to one who knows
That Love divine meets every human need!
In Spirit and in Truth seek on, for ye
Shall find, and in the finding ye shall gain
A deeper insight; so eternally
Give thanks, as understanding wipes out pain.
For "ye shall know the truth"—to all, to me,
That promise comes—"the truth shall make you free"!
Helen Dwight Reid
