THE MEANING OF OMNIPOTENCE

Christian Science teaches that God, good, is the one and only power—that He is All. The conclusion is evident: that there is no other power or presence. Since God, Spirit, is All and the only power, then all creation, consisting only of spiritual ideas, must be included in the omnipotent and omnipresent God, divine Mind.

The word "omnipotence" refers either to God Himself or to His almighty power. We can say that God is omnipotence, and we can also speak of the omnipotence of the creator. God and His power cannot be limited in any direction; they cannot be divided, diminished, increased, or resisted. The Almighty eternally rules all as divine Principle, the unchanging and unchangeable rock of ages. Omnipotence governs and controls all of its ideas in perfect harmony, and it maintains and guides them all, from the least to the greatest.

Christ Jesus is the great Exemplar of the meaning of omnipotence. He reflected, or expressed, the power of the Almighty. Therefore he is called Jesus the Christ, for Christ is the power of God expressed or manifested, revealing man's perfect nature as the reflection of the omnipotent.
