THE STRONG HOLD OF THE CHRIST

A Need of each day is to gain a better understanding of the Christ. "Christ" is thus defined by Mary Baker Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 583): "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error."

It will be noticed that this definition contains no hint of corporeality or personality. The word "manifest" has the root meaning of "seized by the hand," and this points to the fast hold or inseparable union which exists between God and man through the Christ.

Many passages in the Bible refer to the hand of God or to the right hand of God. For instance (Ps. 118:16), "The right hand of the Lord is exalted," and (Ex. 15:6), "Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power." We are held in the grasp of God, good, through the Christ. Our supreme need is to feel the strength of Truth, the intelligence of Mind, and man's inseparability from Spirit.
