For a long time I have had the desire to express my gratitude to God for Christian Science through one of our periodicals. Some time ago, while on a picnic, I had an experience which proved to me the power of Truth when applied to a trying situation.
While crossing a stream which had swollen from previous rains, I was swept off my feet and carried away by the rushing waters toward some high and rough falls. I tried vigorously to stop myself, but was hurled over the first part of the falls and into a hole, where I was whirled against the rocks.
I tried to calm my fears by reaching out for the truth applicable to meet this situation. The thought came to me that the real man can never be harmed, and with this I felt a ray of hope. I tried to relax and to put my trust in God.
