Several years ago my husband and I were reaching out for something; we knew not what. I read anything I thought might bring some light of Truth, but without help.

One Wednesday evening while out walking we saw many people entering a building. Thinking there must be a lecture of some kind, we went in and found that we were at a Wednesday testimony meeting in a Christian Science church. When the testimonies were given I was deeply impressed with what was said and with the manner, looks, and apparent intelligence of the people who spoke. After the meeting I borrowed a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Although I understood little of what I read, I felt that something very wonderful and powerful was in this book.

I had suffered long with bronchial asthma and had taken all sorts of medical treatment without receiving any help. Shortly after I began reading Science and Health, I had an attack of this trouble. My husband said he would go for the doctor, but I asked him not to and said I did not want to take any more medicine or to have any more medical treatment. In a short time I arose, dressed, and felt perfectly well. Never again have I had another attack of this ailment. I knew nothing of how this healing took place at that time, but I have since realized that it resulted from a lifting up of thought and reliance on Truth.
