Christian Science was presented to me more than thirty years ago at a time when I was suffering from a severe case of grippe. My sister brought me a copy of The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition). I was completely healed by reading this publication. I am grateful that it was written in German, because I was not able to read English very well. From that time on, I have never used drugs of any kind. I began to study the Bible Lesson, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, and the understanding it gave me of God and of man's relationship to Him enabled me to live a life of greater happiness and freedom. Christian Science proved to be a great blessing in the rearing of my family.

About a year or so ago I was struck by an automobile while I was crossing the street in a shopping district near my home. After being rushed to a hospital in a state of unconsciousness, I was identified, and my sons were notified. They at once called a Christian Science practitioner, who lovingly took up prayerful work for me.

In half an hour I regained consciousness. My condition was diagnosed, and the doctors were doubtful if I would live, since X rays showed a fractured pelvis, a broken hipbone, a concussion of the brain, and internal injuries. The doctors stated that if I lived four days, which they felt was doubtful because of my advanced years, they would operate to set the bones.

I was given no medicine, and the practitioner worked daily for me. On the fourth day new X-ray pictures were taken, and to the amazement of all the doctors these pictures showed that both the pelvic bone and the hipbone were perfectly set. The pictures showed a degree of healing which ordinarily would have taken several weeks, the doctors said.

I improved daily, and on the twelfth day I was able to return home, in spite of the fact that the doctors had said I would be in the hospital for three months. A Christian Science nurse was engaged, and in two months I was about my household duties and attending church, completely healed.

This wonderful healing has proved to me beyond any doubt that every law of matter can be proved powerless and untrue when the law of God as taught in Christian Science is correctly applied. I wish to say that I am humbly grateful for the consecration of the practitioner, through whose work this healing was accomplished. I can truly say that I owe my life to Christian Science.

I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church and for every avenue through which this truth is reaching and healing mankind.
