As a child I had always had faith and prayed to God, but I felt that my prayers went unanswered. Now I realize that they have been answered by bringing me, through the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, a better understanding of God.

This textbook has taught me that the unknown God, whom I ignorantly worshiped, to paraphrase Paul's words (see Acts 17:23), is indeed "a very present help in trouble," as the Psalmist says (Ps. 46:1).I am grateful to God for revealing to Mrs. Eddy, through her purity and spirituality, the Science of Christianity so that all humanity may benefit from it.

Science and Health was given to me when I was in the depths of despair, but it remained unread for six years, because I felt I could not understand it. Then, like the Psalmist, I "cried unto the Lord ...,and he delivered [me] out of [my] distresses" (Ps. 107:6) The light of Truth made plain the words of our textbook, and fear, ignorance, and various physical ailments vanished. Soon I was rejoicing that even with my small understanding of God, I could help my dear ones. An obstruction in my nose disappeared. So did catarrh of long standing. Constipation and hemorrhoids have been healed through my study of the writings of Mrs. Eddy and other authorized literature.
