"NO MAN AFTER THE FLESH"

In childhood many of us may have at some time dreamed of having an Aladdin's lamp that would give us a happy existence, full of all sorts of wonderful things. From time to time the nature of the things desired may have changed. As we attained adulthood, possibly the longing for a blissful, heavenly life became a foremost wish. Perhaps this longing led us to ask questions of religious teachers, to search the Bible, or often to voice our yearning in prayer to God.

Then, possibly, one glorious day the light of Truth as revealed through Christian Science is presented to us. By means of its teachings man is revealed as God's spiritual image and likeness, and we begin to comprehend the spiritual significance of the Apostle Paul's statement to the Corinthians (II Cor. 5:16), "Henceforth know we no man after the flesh."

The light of Truth has never gone out. In this age, through the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, each step of the way of healing and salvation is enlightened for us. On page 275 of this textbook, we learn that "the starting-point of divine Science is that God, Spirit, is All-in-all, and that there is no other might nor Mind,—that God is Love, and therefore He is divine Principle." And on page 591 man is defined as "the compound idea of infinite Spirit; the spiritual image and likeness of God; the full representation of Mind."
