I feel impelled to write this testimony,...

I feel impelled to write this testimony, because I have enjoyed the fruitage of the teachings of Christian Science all my life. The privilege was mine of attending the Sunday School until I reached the age of twenty, and then I joined a branch church, already having become a member of The Mother Church. While still in the Sunday School, I had many opportunities to serve the Cause of Christian Science and to prove that there is only one God, who is good, a truth which can be practiced in our daily lives.

For a long time I felt the need of wearing glasses, and in addition I was constantly troubled with severe headaches. Consecrated work was done in Christian Science, and I studied the definition of "eyes," given in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 586): "Spiritual discernment,—not material but mental. Jesus said, thinking of the outward vision, 'Having eyes, see ye not?' (Mark viii. 18.)" As a result of this study and treatment I was healed of the headaches as well as of the need of wearing glasses.

Another outstanding healing I experienced happened about fifteen years ago when I was suffering from what I believe was chronic appendicitis. While on a one-day visit in a nearby city, I was stricken with pains in my side and was unable to return home that evening. My husband and some friends who also were sincere students of Christian Science were with me, and I asked one of them to help me. The truth that we clung to was the statement (Science and Health, p. 66), "Trials are proofs of God's care." That night I fell into a deep sleep, and upon awakening the next morning I found that I was completely healed. There has been no return of this condition.
