I became interested in Christian Science many years ago when it healed my mother of cancer of the stomach after three doctors said she could not leave the hospital alive. She lived eighteen happy, healthy years after that.

I hope the following testimony of healing will help someone else as testimonies of other people's healings have helped me. While accompanied by two Christian Science friends I turned my ankle and fell and was unable to get up without their aid. They declared audibly as they helped me into the car that "under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 424). My friends took me home and helped me into the house and to bed. The pain was so intense that I could not think clearly; so I asked that a practitioner be called. This was done, and treatment was given immediately.

The last sentence in that week's Lesson-Sermon, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, was, "God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power" (ibid., p. 473). I tried to realize that it did not make any difference what mortal mind said had happened. It could not affect my real being, because the condition certainly was no part of ever-present God. This passage from Hebrews was a constant companion that night (4:12): "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
