This testimony is offered in the hope that it may be of help to others. I have been benefited many times by the testimonies in the periodicals, as well as by those given at Wednesday evening meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist.

About six years ago, after reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I concluded that if the statements in this book were true, they could be proved. For many years I had been troubled periodically with nagging backache. For about a year this condition had been aggravated. An X ray and a diagnosis by an orthopedic specialist confirmed my own doctor's verdict of arthritis of the spine. The specialist indicated that there might be a deformity of some kind; but I did not ask him to explain this, for I felt miserable enough.

After reading Science and Health I made an appointment to see a practitioner. How much of my trouble I told him, I am not sure, but I was very distraught. He listened patiently, and when I finished he told me that the arthritic condition had never happened in the reality of God's creation; and he read to me from the Bible and from Science and Health. To his questions regarding my knowledge of God, I could only say, "I know that I am, because God is."
