RADIO PROGRAM: No. 197 - How a Coal Miner Found Healing

Speaker: Our guest was healed of injuries, from which he was not expected to recover, through his spiritual understanding of the words of Christ Jesus, "With God all things are possible." I'd like to introduce Mr. Frank McCollum of Springfield, Illinois.

Mr. McCollum: As a young man I worked in a coal mine in southern Illinois. The coal in this mine was hoisted to the surface by a cage similar to an elevator in an office building, and one day I had to go into the bottom of the shaft to do some repair work. As I was working, the engineer accidentally let the heavy steel cage drop down on me.

Although my injuries appeared to be severe, I instantly turned to God as the only Life of man. I had learned in Christian Science that divine Life is indestructible, eternal, perfect. And in that Life there is no harm, no accident, no disaster. I knew I could find help and healing through turning in an understanding way to God, because I had been healed of a serious stomach condition of long standing through prayer in Christian Science. So at this point, in spite of much pain and a great deal of fear, I resolved to do my best to rely on prayer for healing.
